Mari always made a point of touring the ship’s she was assigned to, in this case she was fascinated to see what engineering in this class of ship was like. She’d always been interested in Operations, infact she was a qualified Operations Officer but Counselling had been her true calling. She smiled as she saw someone on his back waist deep underneath a console.

"Given a good refit they said." David said from under the "Pool Table" in engineering. "If we don't get this working the Captain is going to have a fit people!" He yelled.

Mari looked at the report on the problem that was lying on the console. “Try this” She picked up one of the hydrospanners from the tool kit and passed it under. “Just give me a second ...” She tapped the console. “Now Try.”

The consoles sprang to life. "It lives!! David said thankful for the help. He came up and out from under the table and said. "Thank youuuu.... medical person in Engineering?" Wondering if this was the person who helped out.

“Medical person who just happens to be a qualified Ops Officer!” Mari grinned. “I’m Mari Savette, the new Chief Counsellor. Pardon my being here, I was taking a tour and thought I’d see what engineering was like.”

David extended his hand. "Pleasure to meet you Mari, I'm David Skii Chief Engineer."

Mari shook David’s hand before letting go again. “It’s nice to meet you David”

"Its good to know you have learned some skills." David replied. "A lot of these kids on board are new. I may call on you from time to time." He added a smile.

“Please do!” Mari grinned. “I don’t mind being useful when I can.”

"Want to see if the warp core is running like it should?" David asked pointing to the table.

“Thought you’d never ask!” Mari smiled and nodded. “This is the first ship of this class I’ve served aboard so it’s something of an adventure.”

David pushed a few buttons on the console. The warp core was pictured and lots of readings came up. "What do you see?" David asked

Mari looked at the readouts, studying what was coming through. “It looks like there’s an imbalance somewhere, the readings look off unless the readouts are how this class of ship is supposed to read?” She looked at David curiously.

"Your correct." David replied with a smile. "The dilithium crystals are slightly out of alignment. The engines and warp core will work but not as efficient."

Mari nodded and smiled. “Looks like I’m not as rusty as I thought!”

David smiled at her. "Feel free to come down anytime. If you'll excuse me I have a lot of work to do. It was very nice meeting you."

"Likewise" Mari smiled warmly. "I'll get out of your hair and jet you get back to work, thank you for letting me hang out for a little while." She nodded politely before turning and heading on her way.
