"That's 6 already this morning," Mac said as she straightened up the treatment cubicle. "Are you trying to set a record for the most physicals in a shift?" she teased.

"No," Nikki laughed. "I just want to get them out of the way while we're docked so I don't have them hanging over my head once we're out there...," she gestured toward the ceiling, "...somewhere."

"You always been a work-a-holic, Doc?" Mac asked, only partially teasing.

Nikki smirked. "Yeah. I have," she answered, being sarcastic...sort of.

"Great," Mac responded as if grumbling.

The doors to Sickbay slid open with a whispering hiss and both Nikki and Mac looked up.

Alister glanced around the medical bay, muttering something lightly under his breath as he did so, "Lt Commander, Beckett," he said extending his hand to the doctor, "Alister McKeon, the ship's Intelligence Officer, pleasure to meet you."

Nikki walked over to the man and took his hand. As she shook it she said, "nice to meet you, Alister. And Sickbay is a rank free zone. I'm just Dr. Beckett in here. Come....have a seat," she said, gesturing to the empty biobed. She turned the monitors on, picked up a bioscanner and stepped back over to Alister. "This will be quick and painless, I promise," she said with a smile.

Muttering about an unpleasant duty assignment that he was going to inflict on his Chief he sat on the edge of the biobed, "I've never known a Doctor to say otherwise," he said, "Even when getting ready to poke and prod with a sharp instrument."

Mac brought her a fresh PADD and grabbed a hemo-extractor from the utility tray. Sara McKlusky had been on the Tigris several years and knew Alister. "We missed you at last night's poker game," she said as she moved his sleeve up, exposing his forearm. She quickly located a vein and, painlessly, extracted the required amount of blood.

"Station intel had a get together, with themselves and the docked ships CIOs," Alister said blinking as the needle went in, "Had a poker game and an open bar," he gave her a wink, "Granted a couple of times I almost thought the game was going to end in a rapid exchange of phaser fire, but all in all I came out comfortably ahead, even with that card shark Lieutenant off the Yorktown in attendance." It was almost calling the kettle black, considering his own reputation with cards, but before the Lieutenant had sat down he had been up quite a bit more, of course having to work to win had been an interesting diversion from normal.

"You ditched us to play poker with a bunch of howdy dos from the station?" Mac teased as she labeled the vial of blood. " didn't miss much. Tork was on a streak last night. Got me for my almost all of my credit allotment," she chuckled. "Oh well...maybe next week."

Nikki was amused by the two's banter which gave her time to run her routine scans. When she finished she held her index finger up in front of Alister's face and said, "using just your eyes, follow my finger," and she moved it from side to side then up and down. "Any complaints I should know about?" she asked as she jotted a few notes in Alister's chart.

Alister chuckled as Mac spoke, "Don't worry about Tork, I'll knock him down a few pegs next week, besides who says we Intel officers play with credits, we usually have far better items to put up." Turning his attention to the Doctor he followed her finger as she moved it around, "Except for taking something for a headache this morning, no."

"You're probably my easiest customer today," Nikki laughed. "Everything looks great. You are clear for duty," she said, signing his chart.

"See you Thursday night. Bring the big bucks," Mac said, tauntingly.

Nikki watched Alister leave then looked at Mac and quirked an eyebrow. "Poker, huh?" she asked.

Mac shrugged. "We all have vices, boss," she said and smirked. "Someday I'll figure out what yours are."

Nikki smiled and shook her head as she walked away. "I'm sure you will, Mac. I'm sure you will," she said.
